Botox
Anti-wrinkle procedure
Anti-Wrinkle injections (also known as BOTOX®) is a simple, safe and effective way to improve fine lines and deep wrinkles in the upper part of the face. They work to relax facial muscles making lines and wrinkles, such as crow’s feet and frown lines, less obvious.
This procedure can have remarkable results in improving the wrinkles resulting from hyperactive facial muscles that occur our skin looses its elasticity with age. It is used to treat frown lines between the eyebrows, horizontal forehead lines and ‘crows feet’ around the eyes.
Muscle relaxing injections using Botox, which can be completely tailored to your face, offer you an effective and far less invasive treatment choice to smooth away lines and wrinkles. The result is a softer, more relaxed and healthier appearance.
The effect usually lasts around four- six months and can be repeated when needed. Most patients require less frequent treatments over time as the muscles ‘retrain’ and weaken from disuse.

Information
-
How does the treatment work?
Anti-wrinkle injections temporarily block the release of acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is a chemical substance that is released from nerve endings. It transmits signals to the muscle and causes the muscle to contract. By blocking the release of acetylcholine, the muscle is not able to contract fully. As the muscles do not move, the overlying skin stops forming creases. Over a few months, the muscles form new receptors and start to contract again
-
Are they safe?
The chemical substance within anti-wrinkle injections has been used for various medical reasons such as to treat muscle spasms since the 1980s. Its cosmetic value was first discovered by an ophthalmologist who injected the treatment to the eye muscles. For cosmetic reasons, the treatments are in much smaller units. Treatments are safe if they are delivered by a trained, qualified practitioner.
-
What happens during the treatment?
Anti-wrinkle injections are given by small syringes with microfine needles. Several injection points are made into the skin overlying the target muscles.
-
How long does treatment take?
Treatment will only take 15-20 min, no topical anaesthetic is required.
-
What are the possible side effects?
As the treatments have temporary effects, the side effects also tend to be temporary. Most commonly, there is some redness and swelling at the injection points immediately after treatment, which usually settle down after 1 hour. Bruising can occur and may take a few days or weeks to heal. Some people can have headaches or flu-like symptoms which usually improve with simple painkillers such as paracetamol.
-
When will I start seeing results?
Results will start to appear after 3 days but will take up to 2 weeks for full effect. At this time your practitioner will want to see you again to see how well the anti wrinkle injections have performed and if a top up is necessary (included in original price).
Pre-Treatment instructions
You will first undergo a full consultation with a practitioner to ensure you are an ideal candidate for treatment.
Post-Treatment instructions
- Avoid touching the treated areas for at least 2 hours post-treatment to reduce the risk of infections.
- Avoid exposure to excessive heat such as the use of steam and sauna rooms, sunbeds and vigorous exercise for 24 to 48 hours post-treatment as these activities may potentially reduce the effectiveness of treatment.
